Overview
Advanced Biomedical Scientist - Microbiology with a £2,000 recruitment incentive (conditions apply) is being recruited for at Candino CA. This role supports the Microbiology service at Ipswich Hospital as part of a collaborative ESNEFT network.
The Microbiology laboratory delivers a full microbiological service for diagnosis of infection, including bacteriology, serology, parasitology, TB and molecular testing. The service comprises over 50 staff and collaborates with the ESNEFT Microbiology laboratory in Colchester. The aim is to deliver a high-quality, high-performing service focused on effective patient care.
We are clinically led, committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best pathology staff, and you will play an integral part in the Microbiology team and its development. The role may require an extended day and/or participation in a 24/7 service depending on service needs.

Responsibilities
* Lead Biomedical Scientist for a specialist area within Microbiology.
* Manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the team.
* Lead on service improvement initiatives.
* Process specialist investigations and ensure standard and quality of results.
* Provide specialist advice to clinicians on test appropriateness and timescales.
* Provide specialist service such as training, advanced troubleshooting and problem solving for the specialist area.
* Flexibly work in reflection of service needs, including extended hours and 24/7 service delivery where required.

Our Pathology Service is part of the East Coast Pathology Network. ESNEFT provides hospital and community health services across east Suffolk and north Essex, with teams across Colchester, Ipswich and community settings. Incentive and employment details
The role offers a recruitment incentive of £2,000 pro rata (conditions apply). The post is a contract role within the Microbiology service.
