Position: Mechanical Engineer (Process Engineer)

Salary: $77,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation per annum

Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer (Process Engineer) to join their team located in Port of Brisbane, Queensland
As a Mechanical Engineer (Process Engineer) you will be responsible for providing production and product technical support his includes process engineering support and process development related to existing products and new product introductions.
The principal purpose of the Mechanical Engineer (Process Engineer) role is to monitor raw material and final product quality and production process efficiency.
With particular focus on, identifying opportunities to improve productivity, process efficiency and product quality and to develop new products as required.
This role also provides after-hours support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Comply with Worker/Officer obligations under Work Health & Safety Act 2011
2. Consider safety first in all work practices, performing your duties in a safe manner, ensuring you do not cause injury to yourself or others.
3. Follow health and safety requirements, guidelines and procedures
4. Seek, obtain and correctly file Safety Data Sheets (SDS) when substances are brought onto the site Monitor site activities and mechanical processes to ensure compliance with environmental standards, regulations, and company policies.
5. Ensure adherence to recycling, cleaning, and spill management programs to minimise environmental impact.
6. Report any product spill or contamination (actual or potential) and implement corrective measures.
7. Recommend and implement initiatives to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste, and optimise energy use
8. Support sustainability initiatives through process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and reduce the environmental footprint.
9. Assist the business in meeting environmental targets and promptly report any non-conformances.
10. Actively seek opportunities to engage with customers
11. Treats customers with courtesy; building trust & loyalty through genuine and superior customer service
12. Handle enquiries in a positive and cheerful manner
13. Respond swiftly to customer complaints/queries; seek out and offer appropriate solutions
14. Undertake any agreed follow-up action and delivers on promises
15. Keep customers at the centre of every activity Ensure raw materials and finished products meet quality requirements and industry standards.
16. Liaise with the QA Laboratory to investigate non-conformances, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
17. Monitor process variation and optimise product change cycles to maintain consistent quality.
18. Develop and deliver training programs for staff on new processes, equipment, and quality procedures to maintain technical competence.
19. Participate in Quality Review meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
20. Liaise with shareholder and industry technical staff on a regular basis
21. Maintain a watching brief on industry and competitor technical developments
22. Provide technical support and guidance to Operations, Sales, and Marketing teams regarding processes, equipment, and product specifications.
23. Assist in the selection, acquisition and commissioning of new process and laboratory equipment
24. Train staff in current and updated processes and equipment Design and document best practice manufacturing processes and systems for new products including Standard Work Instructions
25. Provide input to product development to ensure optimum design for manufacture
26. Investigate and communicate new technologies relevant to product development
27. Prepare capital expenditure and justifications for new manufacturing plant, equipment and software
28. Supervise plant trials for product and process development
29. Maintain work areas and equipment in accordance with engineering standards, operational requirements, and safety regulations.
30. Keep up-to-date with industry developments, emerging technologies, and competitor practices to inform process and product improvements.
31. Support team development through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and training in mechanical and process engineering activities.
32. Promote safe and efficient engineering practices across all work areas.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor of Engineering degree or higher
2. At least three (3) years of experience in mechanical engineering, including expertise in cement and concrete laboratory testing, production in cement or related industries, quality systems management training, process engineering and control, concrete technology and project management.
3. High level written and verbal communication
4. Must be available for weekend and out-of-hours (on-call) work.
