Engineering Lead - Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to join our team in Melbourne.
This is a full-time opportunity with a minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management and a strong background in maintenance of technical equipment within the pharmaceutical, life science, GMP, biotech, R&D, and manufacturing industries.
This role requires effective leadership skills to supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance staff and shift engineers including assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance, and rostering.
The successful candidate will manage client expectations and liaise with stakeholders to organize reactive and preventative maintenance aligned with relevant Aus. Standards and Victorian regulatory requirements ensuring efficiency and reliability of facility, equipment, and systems.
The key responsibilities include managing the CMMS (Maximo) Asset / Workorder system and assign, track, and close work orders from maintenance staff and service providers.
Additionally, this position involves developing and implementing maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and disruptions, owning workflows through Risk Management System (VETTED) to create permits, JSA's, vendor management, etc.
Professional training, guidance, and development opportunities for team members are also essential in enhancing their skills and efficiency.
The ideal candidate should be able to participate and lead in regular team meetings to discuss operational updates, safety protocols, and performance goals.
Ensuring compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and other relevant regulations is also crucial.
Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, including service logs, inspection/service reports, and compliance documentation, is another vital responsibility.
Effective coordination with external contractors and service providers is necessary to ensure quality and timely completion of outsourced maintenance tasks.
Evaluating vendor performance and negotiating service agreements to optimize costs and service quality is also a critical task.
This role requires developing and managing the maintenance budget, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Regular financial reports and forecasts for the Facility manager are also required.
Providing high levels of client satisfaction through proactive communication and responsive service is also expected.
To succeed in this position, you should have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a leading hand or supervisory role, preferably in the pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry.
A Tertiary degree in Engineering discipline or Trade background (preferably electrical) with sub-professional qualifications is highly desirable.
A solid knowledge of applicable Australian Standards and state-based regulatory requirements is also necessary.
In-depth knowledge of facility management best practices, including maintenance, safety, and compliance standards, preferably in the pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry, is essential.
Strong leadership and team management skills are also required.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities are necessary for success in this role.
Proficiency in facility management software and systems (CMMS, Maximo, BMS, EMS, DeltaV, VETTED) is also expected.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously is a must.
Ability to develop and review key SOP's is also necessary.
