**About the Role**

Efficient project management of beaches, canals and coastal projects involving permits; efficient service delivery providing technical advice to Councillors, staff and the community on foreshore and canal projects; and ensure the efficient coordination of business planning and operational delivery of the Coastal and Canals Unit including assisting in budget preparation.

Using your passion for the environment and high level of knowledge associated with coastal fauna and flora management you will demonstrate your best practice in environmental management, project management, coastal management, canal management, community programs and recreation management.
- Contribute to and deliver coastal environmental initiatives and programs including, but not limited to: coastal and environmental education programs, beach clean-up program, marine and coastal fauna management programs,and ecological surveys.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver events and initiatives that effectively engage community members and volunteers.
- Explore and manage opportunities for the incorporation of nature-based adaptation solutions.
- Provide professional input into coastal projects to minimise environmental impact to the surrounding landscape and incorporation of relevant environmental management best practice principles.

**About you**

You will utilise you time management, communications and problem solving skills to negotiate and consult with community groups, individuals, the general public and State Government agencies.

Formal relevant qualification (Degree) in a relevant field such as environmental science/management, marine science and/or marine ecology, and/or relevant experience.

Substantial experience in coordinating citizen science and/or scientific programs, including the development, planning, monitoring and review of such programs.

High level of knowledge associated with coastal fauna and flora ecology to support effective management strategies and address challenges in an urban environment.
