About the Role
Our newly created Property Manager will lead and manage the operation of the Property department while collaborating as a member of the leadership team. You will be responsible for delivering a range of functions, including the management of the Council's diverse property portfolio and the effective operational management of property activities such as land development, subdivision, sales and acquisitions, leasing and licensing, and land exchanges. The role also focuses on identifying and securing strategic property opportunities to support the Council's future needs and enhance revenue.
As a Manager, you will act with honesty and integrity, demonstrate a genuine desire to deliver outcomes for our community, support, lead and encourage direct reports, and actively model and champion Council's Guiding Principles.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Property department's day‑to‑day operations.
- Oversee land development, subdivision, sales, acquisitions, leasing, licensing, and land exchanges.
- Develop and update the Council's commercial property strategy and frameworks.
- Identify and secure strategic property opportunities to support Council’s future needs.
- Drive initiatives to enhance Council revenue through property management.
- Mentor, coach and develop staff and manage direct reports.
- Demonstrate integrity and champion Council’s Guiding Principles.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree level qualifications in property development, property management, land economics, real estate management, planning or a related discipline.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in project and property management.
- Experience in commercial property negotiation.
- Knowledge of key legislation relevant to the role.
- Superior relationship and communication skills for establishing key internal and external relationships.
- Ability to lead, mentor and coach staff.
- Previous experience in local government management and knowledge of Maitland LGA highly regarded.
