The Opportunity :
The Y NT is currently seeking experienced and Diploma-qualified Educators who are passionate about leadership and eager to advance their careers. We have multiple Assistant Director opportunities available across our Early Childhood Services in Darwin and Palmerston.
In addition to supporting the Centre Director, the successful candidate will also take on the Education Leader role contributing to the development and implementation of high-quality educational programs.
As an Assistant Director, you will play a key leadership role within the early years team fostering a collaborative and supportive environment while driving excellence in early childhood education and care.

Key Responsibilities :
Operational Excellence: support director in the day-to-day operations ensuring a seamless and efficient environment for all members and staff.
Educational Leader: plan, implement, assess and review high-quality and diverse educational programmes guided by approved learning frameworks ensuring developmental needs, interests and abilities of all children are considered.
Team Management: lead, motivate and connect educators to work towards shared goals that achieve the best learning outcomes for children.
Provide leadership, guidance, mentoring and support to the staff team and families.
Spend time in rooms weekly to coach educators on routines, learning objectives, environment set-up and programme delivery.
Risk Management: implement and oversee risk-management strategies to ensure a safe and secure environment in accordance with relevant legislation.
Program Delivery: provide curriculum direction and support educators to develop and implement effective educational programmes. This involves fostering a positive collaborative culture through professional development, mentoring and a focus on continuous improvement to ensure high-quality learning outcomes for all children.
Project Planning: develop both long-term and short-term projects for the successful operation of the facility, including programme development and strategies for long-term success.
Stakeholder Engagement: develop, engage and collaborate to improve local relationships while identifying partnerships, programmes and events that may benefit the community and the Y.
Fostering Inclusiveness: maintain a clean, welcoming and open environment for all members of staff and the community.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or higher)
Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003 or higher) and CPR.

YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement including but not limited to:
Valid Working with Children Clearance.
Satisfactory Criminal History Check.
