Flinders Rural and Remote Health SA

Flinders University Rural and Remote Health SA (FRRHSA) facilitates high‐quality multidisciplinary health education and research in our state regional areas. It has a strong national and international reputation for providing community‐engaged inter‐professional training for medical, nursing and allied health students, including the Doctor of Medicine Rural Stream (MDRS) program and multidisciplinary rural clinical placements. Through this practice we bring new and exciting opportunities to actively engage and work with rural communities.

About the Role

This identified position offers an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander academic to contribute to excellence in teaching and learning within the College of Medicine and Public Health. Based at the Mt Gambier campus, the Lecturer will play a key role in delivering culturally informed education in the Medicine (MD) Program and supporting multidisciplinary placement education. The role focuses on creating engaging learning experiences, fostering student success and strengthening community connections to ensure culturally safe and responsive programs.

* Delivering high‐quality teaching and curriculum development with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health topics.
* Supporting student learning through academic counselling, innovative teaching practices and use of educational technologies.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with local communities to enhance cultural safety and engagement.
* Contributing to College activities, professional development and community service initiatives.

About You

You are an experienced educator passionate about improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. You bring cultural knowledge, strong teaching expertise and a commitment to student success in rural and remote settings.

* Identification as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with cultural recognition and understanding of Indigenous health issues.
* Significant experience in tertiary‐level teaching and curriculum development with a student‐centred approach.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with communities and stakeholders.
* Familiarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and social determinants plus capability to innovate in teaching delivery and technologies.
