About the roleThe Group Head of Engineering & Operations is a senior leader within the CBUS Technology team, accountable for end-to-end performance of engineering and operational services. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the role translates technology strategy into secure, resilient and efficient day-to-day operations, while enabling high-impact solution delivery, continuous improvement and future-ready engineering capability. This role is critical in ensuring technology outcomes are strongly linked to member outcomes, business value and regulatory obligations. As a trusted enterprise partner, you will strengthen, operational excellence, governance, ownership and prioritisation. By providing oversight, risk insight and effective escalation across the Technology function, you will also play a key role in supporting the CTO's responsibilities under the Financial Accountability Regime. Key AccountabilitiesLead Engineering & Operations by providing technical line leadership and clear accountability for secure, scalable platforms and services aligned to CBUS' enterprise strategy and member outcomes Own operational performance and resilience with end-to-end responsibility for production operations, incident management, service continuity and regulatory-ready operations Build, lead and develop high performing engineering and operations teams with strong ownership capability and succession Partner with executives as a trusted technology leader, aligning priorities, resolving trade-offs and translating technical delivery into business, risk and cost outcomes Drive commercial discipline and vendor accountability, owning budgets, optimizing cost and value and governing strategic suppliers and managed services Embed modern engineering practices, leveraging automation, GenAI and DevSecOps to improve throughput, quality and predictability What will you bring?Proven senior technology leadership experience leading large engineering, delivery and operational teams in complex and highly regulated environments Deep cloud and modern engineering expertise with proven leadership of cloud-native platforms (AWS/AZURE), DevSecOps, agile delivery and emerging technologies including GenAI Strong technical credibility, able to guide, challenge and influence senior technical leaders while remaining outcomes-focused Proven commercial acumen with experience owning budgets, optimizing technology spend and translating investment into measurable business and risk outcomes Exceptional stakeholder influence and communication skills including advising CTOs, executives and Boards on complex technology, risk and delivery matters Outstanding people leadership with a track record of building high performing senior leadership teams, developing capability and role-modelling strong values-based leadership Belong at CBUSWe value difference, and embrace people with diverse backgrounds, experiences, gender identities, abilities and thinking styles.
