About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to live independently and engage meaningfully in their communities. Your support will be tailored to each participant’s unique needs, goals and aspirations – helping them build confidence, develop life skills and achieve greater independence.
You will work as part of a dedicated care team, collaborating with participants, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for those you support.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Supporting participants in their unique journey by promoting independence and meaningful engagement in their communities.
- Providing assistance across various settings, including self‑care activities, manual handling, community participation, respite care and Supported Independent Living (SIL).
- Encouraging personal growth, employment and skill development to enhance quality of life.
- Building strong, respectful relationships based on trust and dignity.
- Collaborating with families, carers and professionals to deliver holistic, person‑centred support.
Skills & Experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build meaningful relationships with participants and their families.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Awareness of cultural protocols when working with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and CALD communities.
- Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements.
- Experience with High‑Intensity Support (preferred).
- Experience with Complex Behaviour Support Management (preferred).
Requirements
- Proof of Australian citizenship, residency, or valid work visa.
- QLD Open Driver’s License.
- QLD Working with Children Blue Card.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card).
- Infection Control Certificate.
- First Aid & CPR Certificate (HLTAID011 & HLTAID009).
- National Police Check (less than 6 months old).
- Must have relevant Certificate III qualifications.
- Completion of the NDIS Orientation Module.
- Willingness to undergo additional training tailored to participants’ needs.
- Minimum 1 year of experience (20 hours per week).
