Position Summary
The Chef will oversee daily kitchen operations, from menu design to food preparation and staff supervision. This role requires strong technical cooking ability, leadership skills, and commitment to compliance with Australian food safety and workplace regulations. The Chef will ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and service at all times.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential Requirements
• AQF Diploma or higher in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality, or a related discipline; OR
• At least three years of full-time relevant employment experience in lieu of formal qualification.
• Minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Ability to manage a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment.
Preferred Attributes
• Culinary creativity and innovation in menu development.
• Solid leadership and staff training capabilities.
• Sound knowledge of Australian food safety legislation and WHS requirements.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop menus and new dishes, considering preparation time, cost, and staff requirements.
• Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all dishes prepared.
• Order and maintain stock levels of food, supplies, and kitchen equipment.
• Monitor and inspect supplies, equipment, and kitchen areas for cleanliness and functionality.
• Train and supervise cooks, apprentices, and kitchen staff in cooking methods and hygiene standards.
• Enforce food safety regulations, hygiene procedures, and WHS compliance across all kitchen operations.
• Coordinate staff rosters and allocate daily tasks to kitchen staff.
• Actively participate in management meetings, contributing to food preparation and training strategies.
• Assist in resolving staffing issues fairly and promptly.
• Ensure all food is prepared and stored according to HACCP and Australian Food Safety standards.
• Participate directly in food preparation and cooking during service as required.
