Software Engineer – NetApp (Instaclustr)
Location: Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia
About NetApp – NetApp is the intelligent data infrastructure company, turning a world of disruption into opportunity for every customer.
No matter the data type, workload or environment, we help our customers identify and realize new business possibilities.
And it all starts with our people.
Job Summary – Are you passionate about open-source technologies or solving distributed computing problems at scale?
Do you love learning and working with a diverse range of technologies and people?
We're looking for a collaborative and curious Software Engineer to join our development team at NetApp Instaclustr.
NetApp Instaclustr's mission is to make it easy for customers around the globe to run powerful open-source applications at scale – like Cassandra, Kafka, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Cadence and ClickHouse – across on-premises data centres and the cloud.
The development team is responsible for building, maintaining and operating the platform that allows us to provision and reliably keep thousands of distributed application servers running worldwide.
What You'll Do
Work within a development team of 3-8 engineers to build, maintain and enhance our open-source application platform, taking care of the whole lifecycle: provisioning infrastructure, installing applications and, most importantly, keeping the applications running reliably in production.
Take end-to-end ownership of the whole development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing and deployment through to our production environments.
Collaborate with other development teams, operations teams and product managers to solve complex problems.
Learn and apply DevOps best practices as part of a global team that operates 24×7.
Your Skills and Experience
Tertiary qualifications in software engineering or computer science.
2-5 years of commercial experience regularly delivering quality software and overcoming technical challenges.
Proficiency in Java, SQL and at least one other modern programming language – and openness to learning more.
Strong communication skills and a humble and collaborative nature – essential for working harmoniously with multiple teams.
A curious mindset with a keen interest in how your work will positively impact customers.
Eagerness to tackle new challenges and continuously grow your software engineering skills.
What Makes This Role Exciting
Being one of the first people in our India-based NetApp Instaclustr development team.
Working with a wide range of technologies and tools, such as Java, SQL, Python, Typescript, Rust, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Debian and more.
Working with major cloud providers – our systems run on AWS, Azure and GCP.
A modern development environment running on the latest MacBook Pros.
Well-defined career model and opportunities for progression.
Workplace flexibility and a great work-life balance.
A fantastic team environment.
Opportunities to learn from incredibly talented people.
Must be able to work from our Bengaluru office at least two days a week.
