**Position Summary**

Oversees and directs operations of Bakery department and other areas of the warehouse. Creates and implements sales and merchandising plan for Bakery and determines production requirements. Implements and upholds proper Bakery and general safety and sanitation procedures and standards. Provides prompt and courteous customer service. Rostering and general management in the department.

**Job Duties/Essential Functions**
- Develops, coaches, counsels, and directs department personnel
- Monitors employee performance and provides proactive feedback to promote teamwork and accountability
- Participates in the employment process by making recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination
- Responds to employee concerns using problem solving skills, tact, and discretion in accordance with the Costco Employee Agreement and other applicable regulations
- Participates in department employee evaluations
- Approves timecards and other reports
- Implements and upholds proper Bakery and general safety and sanitation procedures and standards
- Reviews Bakery profit and loss statement
- Develops and implements sales and merchandising plan for department
- Determines production requirements
- Checks quality and consistency of finished product and oversees product presentation and merchandising
- Reviews and prepares rostering as per business needs
- Coordinates proper maintenance and repairs for machinery, equipment, and Bakery instruments
- Approves and submits physical inventory periodically
- Follows Standard Sanitation Operating Procedure (SSOP) guidelines as it refers to proper cleaning and sanitation of all equipment required by this position
- Completes and complies with 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety certification, and all safety training required by warehouse and Bakery Department
- Assists in all areas of the Bakery and departments of the warehouse as necessary
- Provides prompt and courteous customer service to drivers, members, employees, and suppliers
- Assists in other departments of the warehouse, as necessary.

**Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery**

Computer, printer, copier, phone, calculator, scales, water meter, oven racks, proof box, ovens, large power mixers, muffin depositor, food processor, pie crust machine, bowl lift, safety ladder, pan dollies, apricot glazer, wheeled product bins, commercial dishwasher, wrapping machine, cake slicing machine, product pump, and labeller, and handheld/ table top scanners.

Education/Training:

- High School Certificate or higher; or Trade Qualification

Licenses/Certifications:

- Bakers Trade Certificate

Other Skills and Abilities:

- Management experience in Bakery or comparable experience
- Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and AS400
- Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal and organisation skills
- Problem solving and critical thinking
- Basic math skills

**Other specific requirements**
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Full COVID-19 vaccination or medical contraindications certificate
- If successful, you will be required to undertake role & department specific training within specified timeframes
