About the Position
The Queensland region is known for its high-risk fire conditions, and the state's emergency services require skilled team members to serve as Auxiliary Firefighters. This vital role involves working closely with other emergency responders to safeguard lives and property in local communities.
Key Responsibilities
As an Auxiliary Firefighter, you will be part of a collaborative effort that offers comprehensive fire, rescue, and disaster management services. Your commitment will contribute to enhanced community safety outcomes through effective teamwork with stakeholders.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Hold or be eligible for a current Blue Card.
* Have employer consent to attend incidents and emergencies (if applicable).
* Reside or work near the auxiliary fire station.
* Be an Australian Permanent Resident.
* Possess a Manual C Class driver's license.
You must commit to attending 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours or 30% of calls as a shift worker or non-routine hours. You're also expected to participate in regular drills, training sessions, and skills acquisition programs.
Your Key Accountabilities
* Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as part of a team.
* Promote community safety and preparedness by contributing to education activities.
* Develop and maintain competencies through regular training courses provided by the relevant authorities.
* Meet attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
* Operate firefighting equipment safely and effectively.
* Maintain station facilities and equipment.
* Contribute to incident reporting and general administration.
* Promote teamwork and adherence to organizational health principles.
* Communicate effectively with emergency service providers and the community.
