About the Job

There is an exciting opportunity within the Finance Department
for an Assistant Accountant. This is a 3-month fixed-term position,
with a minimum of 20 flexible hours per week. The Assistant
Accountant is responsible for the management of Shire assets
including Municipal Funds, Trusts, Reserves, self-supporting loans
and investments.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Monitor and advise on Council's cash position
advising the Manager Financial Services on the investment of
surplus funds, and daily/weekly requirements for cash.
* Liaise with banking institution regarding bank accounts,
term deposits, authorities and maintenance of signatories.
* Initiation of self-supporting loans and other Council loan
borrowings in accordance with set procedures and the Local
Government Act.
* Responsible for the preparation and submission of FBT and
BAS returns with the ATO.

This is a 3 month fixed term position, working a minimum of 20
flexible hours per week.

About you

In order to succeed and thrive in this position, you must
have:

* Tertiary qualification in a related discipline or minimum 5
years' experience in an accounting environment.
* Experience in the operation and management of Financial
Management Information Systems (FMIS).
* Confidently liaises with a wide range of key stakeholders,
both internal and external to the organisation

Benefits

Hourly Rate: $41.65

Permanent staff are entitled to:

* 5 weeks annual leave per year
* The option of one Rostered Day Off (RDO) every 4 weeks in
exchange for working 40 hours per week.

5%
