Where You’ll Be Working
Wilson Memorial Community Hospital sits in the heart of Murrurundi, a picture-perfect town framed by the Great Dividing Range and alive with fresh country air, rolling hills and a welcoming local community. Just 45 minutes from Scone and an hour from Tamworth or Muswellbrook, Murrurundi offers the perfect blend of rural tranquillity and easy access to larger regional centres.
The hospital provides 24/7 emergency care, acute medical and surgical services, palliative and rehabilitation care, aged care beds and outpatient support. You’ll join a team that’s genuinely close-knit - experienced RNs, EENs and AINs who look out for each other and share a culture built on collaboration, respect and a healthy dose of humour. With regular support from our visiting Clinical Nurse Educator and Nurse Unit Manager, it’s the kind of workplace where you feel both valued and supported.
About the Role
This is real rural generalist nursing - diverse, hands-on and deeply rewarding. One moment you might be caring for a patient recovering from surgery, and the next you’re coordinating an emergency presentation or facilitating an aeromedical retrieval. You’ll work across our acute ward and Emergency Department, caring for patients with medical, surgical, palliative and rehabilitative needs while being the first point of contact for emergency cases.
No two days look the same. You’ll use your critical thinking, clinical assessment skills and sound judgement to respond to whatever walks through the door. It’s a role that gives you genuine autonomy, the chance to use your full scope of practice, and the opportunity to build your confidence and capability quickly in a supportive rural workplace. From your very first day, you’ll be supported with a comprehensive in office orientation tailored to your experience. You’ll have regular access to our visiting CNE, close working relationships with district educators, and the chance to complete buddy shifts with experienced staff. We check in with you at 30 and 60 days, and continue to support your growth through annual performance reviews and meaningful professional development planning. Most importantly, you’ll be part of a team that celebrates achievements, backs each other during busy shifts, and values the contribution you make every day.
Who You Are
- You are an adaptable, motivated Registered Nurse who thrives on variety and enjoys hands-on nursing.
- You value teamwork, communicate well, and bring a positive, solutions-focused attitude to your shifts.
- You’re confident stepping into new situations, willing to take the lead when needed, and committed to safe, high-quality care.
Whether you already have acute or emergency experience, or you’re eager to build those skills, you’re someone who embraces learning and enjoys sharing knowledge with others. Most importantly, you’re passionate about delivering excellent patient care and contributing to the wellbeing of a close-knit rural community.
