The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service has been providing world-class aeromedical and search and rescue services to our communities in Northern NSW for over 40 years. We operate in support of NSW Ambulance from three bases; Tamworth, Belmont and Lismore, with a Head Office and engineering facility located in Newcastle, NSW.
We are currently seeking a Legal Counsel to provide high-quality, commercially astute legal advice and support to our General Counsel/Company Secretary, Senior Leadership Team, and broader organisation. The role will cover a broad range of legal matters including commercial and contractual agreements, policy development, compliance, and risk management.
This is a parental leave cover position for approximately 15 months, with the exact duration dependent on the successful candidate’s commencement date.
* The key responsibilities of this role include:
* Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts.
* Provide high-quality legal advice and assistance to the Board, Senior Leadership Team, and the Service’s various business units on a broad range of legal matters including contractual requirements, legislation, compliance, regulatory matters or projects.
* Development and implementation of legal policies, procedures and employee training programs. Conduct training sessions for employees as needed.
* Assist in the conduct of any litigation matters and advise on claims.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
* Completed Bachelor of Laws with at least 8 years post-graduate legal experience in a corporate environment.
* A current Practicing Certificate or ability to obtain.
* Strong contracts experience coupled with excellent drafting and written communication skills.
* The ability to provide commercially focused legal support in a timely and accurate fashion.
* In addition, you will possess advanced organisational skills to manage competing priorities and timeframes.
