Part time or Casual School Bus Supervisor

Kuranda Location

Must be available Monday to Friday split shifts: Approx 7.30am to 9.30am and then again from 2.30pm to 4.30pm During school terms.

Due to our continued growth, TRANS NORTH BUS AND COACH is currently recruiting for an additional Part time or Casual School Bus Supervisor for a School Bus run in Kuranda.

The primary role of a School Bus Supervisor is to supervise and assist students being transported on school bus services provided by Sunbury Coaches.

The School Bus Supervisor also assists the Bus Driver to transport students over specified routes to local or distant points according to a time schedule, along with associated duties such as vehicle pre-departure checks, vehicle cleaning, re-fueling etc.

Special School Bus Supervisors are to also undertake other various duties (as directed) that are within their skills and competency.

To become a valued member of our team, you will need:

* Working with Children Check - Employee not Voluntary (or in the process of obtaining it)
* Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate
* Excellent Customer Service skills
* Ability to work flexible hours and shifts including mornings and afternoon school runs
* Excellent communication skills (English language both oral and written)
* Abide by the safety work practices as outlined in legislation and those of the Company
* Comply with Company policies and procedures and instructions detailed in the company Employee Handbook.
* Supervise and assist students being transported on Sunbury Coaches services, including when students are boarding and alighting the bus.
* Assist students (and carers, parents/guardians, teachers etc.) to maneuver any mobility devices, including wheelchairs, support frames etc. and attach restraining devices or stow appropriately for each trip.
* Assist students with baggage/luggage as necessary.
* Assist the Bus Driver to transport passengers in accordance with set routes and schedule
* Regularly communicate with the Bus Driver to ensure that the services are conducted to a high standard of quality while ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers
* Act in a manner at all times with due regard to the health, safety and welfare of oneself, passengers, other employees and the general public.
* Report service disruptions or accidents and complete all necessary paperwork as per the Company Employee Handbook.
* Keep records of trips and behaviour of passengers as requested.
* Demonstrated ability to work with special needs students based on high levels of communication, tolerance and understanding of people with disabilities.
* Physically fit and able to undertake load bearing physical work associated with providing assistance to students with special needs and manual handling of mobility and 'special needs' type equipment. This includes regular standing, walking, kneeling and crouching movements along with reaching/lifting using hands, arms, shoulders, legs and back. It is expected that the Student Carer must be able to lift and / or move up to 25 kg
