**The Role**
The work of the Executive Officer function in Defence:
- Plan, manage and perform business support,
- Clerical, administrative and managerial activities including human resources,
- Finance, travel, program implementation, policy development,
- Records management, procurement, capability management, quality assurance,
- Governance, contract management and project support functions
- Translate, understand, implement, use, improve, administer, comply and promote legislative, regulatory, procedural, policy and program requirements within Defence.
Within the Administration function an APS 6 Executive Officer is accountable under broad direction to undertake complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support activities within an integrated workforce.
They will work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence's mission and business objectives. They will work independently having some authority and discretion to investigate information from other sources and explore innovative approaches to support the longer-term business objectives.
**About our Team**
The Directorate of Operational Support (DOS) manages a diverse array of products and services as the Product Director under the Base Services Contracts and non-Base Services Contracts. These include Transport, Airfield Operations Support, Rescue Fire Fighting, Defence Mail Services and Defence Vehicle Management. DOS is a high performing and cohesive team which supports continuous improvement and learning and delivers results in a supportive and diverse environment.
An APS 6 Executive Officer Product Management will use their initiative and experience to research, analyse, plan, review and adjust priorities and work activities to deliver a range of complex and interrelated procedural, operational, administrative and business support functions across Defence.
They will undertake objective, systematic analysis and draw accurate conclusions based on evidence providing detailed technical, professional and procedural advice. An APS 6 Executive Officer Product Management will have a high-level of stakeholder engagement and will be required to identify relevant stakeholders' expectations and concerns and develop a clear understanding of the issues and solutions to achieve outcomes.
An APS 6 Executive Officer Product Management may be a team coach or lead a small team and is expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work group. They may be required to exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve business outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
