This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and is confident stepping up to mentor others.A typical day may include:Servicing, diagnostics, and repairs across a fleet of ferries, charter, and commercial vesselsCarrying out routine and breakdown maintenance (mechanical, welding, plumbing, and general engineering tasks)Supporting and mentoring junior team members, sharing technical expertise and promoting best practiceEnsuring vessels remain safe, compliant, and operational with minimal downtimeWorking independently to solve technical problems, often under pressure and to tight deadlinesAbout YouYou're a hands-on marine mechanic who thrives on variety and problem-solving.
With a trade qualification in mechanical or marine engineering, you bring proven experience working on commercial vessels – from diesel engines and hydraulics through to electrical systems and auxiliary equipment.You enjoy diagnosing and fixing issues, can work independently with minimal supervision, and have the confidence to step up and guide less experienced team members when needed.
