Aveley Secondary College (SC) opened in 2018 and is a large secondary school catering for Years 7 to 12 in Perth's Swan Valley. This is a permanent full‐time position commencing Term 2, 2026.
Role Overview
The First Aid Officer works as part of the student support team, coordinating and administering first aid, providing care to students, staff and volunteers, and collaborating with school staff, families and external health professionals.
Responsibilities
* Provide first aid care as required, arranging ambulance support when necessary, while maintaining confidentiality and professional discretion.
* Ensure all incidents are recorded and reported in line with school processes, keeping accurate records of injuries and first aid provision and reporting to the Principal as required.
* Collaborate with parents, health professionals and key staff to ensure the College has appropriate health care plans in place for students.
* Coordinate with parents/guardians for the collection of sick or injured students and supervise until collection.
* Maintain the first aid room and supplies across the College, monitor stock levels, check expiry dates and arrange timely replenishment; manage purchasing related to the first aid budget.
* Support students with the self‐administration of prescribed medication in accordance with documentation.
* Liaise with student services staff to recommend or refer students to appropriate support services (e.g., Community Health Nurse, School Psychologist) as needed.
* Support processes to record and maintain current first aid qualifications of staff across the school, and participate in relevant professional learning to maintain personal accreditation.
* Support school health promotion initiatives.
* Attend school incursions as the First Aid Officer when required.
* Provide general administrative support as required.
Eligibility & Qualifications
* Hold a current certificate in Occupational First Aid (HLTSS00068).
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before starting.
