We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Operations Director – Resources to lead the operational performance, strategic direction, and continuous improvement of a resources portfolio based on the Sunshine Coast. This is a senior leadership role with broad accountability for safe, efficient, and sustainable operations across multiple sites, teams, and functions.
The Operations Director will provide leadership across production, maintenance, asset performance, workforce capability, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with executive leadership and site‐based teams, this role will be central to delivering strong operational outcomes, driving performance improvement, and supporting long‐term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the overall operational performance of resources assets and site‐based activities across the portfolio
* Provide strategic direction across production, maintenance, logistics, asset utilisation, and operational planning
* Drive operational excellence initiatives to improve productivity, safety, reliability, and cost performance
* Oversee day‐to‐day operations to ensure delivery against production targets and business objectives
* Manage budgets, forecasts, cost controls, and financial performance across the operations function
* Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
* Lead risk management, business continuity planning, and operational decision‐making in complex environments
* Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, regulators, local communities, and industry partners
* Support capital works, operational improvement projects, and growth initiatives across the business
* Lead, mentor, and develop high‐performing operational leaders and multidisciplinary teams
* Build a culture of accountability, safety leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
You are a senior operational leader with deep experience in the resources, mining, energy, industrial, or asset‐intensive sectors. You bring a strong track record of leading teams in complex operating environments and balancing strategic priorities with disciplined execution.
You are known for your leadership capability, commercial judgement, and ability to drive performance through people, systems, and operational focus. You are comfortable working across multiple stakeholders and delivering outcomes in environments where safety, reliability, and efficiency are critical.
Required Experience and Qualifications
* Significant senior leadership experience in operations within the resources, mining, energy, industrial, or infrastructure sectors
* Demonstrated success leading site‐based, regional, or multi‐functional operations teams
* Strong understanding of operational planning, production delivery, maintenance strategy, and asset performance
* Proven financial and commercial capability, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimisation
* Experience working in regulated, safety‐critical, or stakeholder‐intensive environments
* Strong capability in risk management, compliance, and operational governance
* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities and influence outcomes at executive and operational levels
* Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, business, commerce, operations management, or a related discipline
Preferred Experience
* Experience in the Queensland resources sector or broader Australian market
* Exposure to geographically dispersed operations or regional asset portfolios
* Experience leading operational transformation, business improvement, or growth programs
* Familiarity with contractor management and operational delivery through mixed workforce models
* Strong understanding of ESG, community engagement, and sustainability obligations within the resources sector
