Job Summary
1. Under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator and/or Nursing Unit Director, perform nursing patient care duties for the assigned unit or department
2. Plan, provide, and evaluate total nursing care in accordance with the established patient care philosophy
3. Facilitate individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures
4. Relate effectively with other shifts for continuity of care, maintain satisfactory relations with other departments and nursing units; and participate in all phases of education
Essential Functions
5. Identifies existing and potential problems and seek or implement appropriate solutions
6. Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given
7. Provides nursing care through planning, organizing, and facilitating the nursing function for assigned patients
8. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation
9. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families
10. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
11. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
12. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
Education
13. Associates degree in Nursing Required
14. Bachelors degree in Nursing Preferred
Licenses/Certifications
15. Basic Life Support (BLS)-Required
16. ACLS within 6 months of hire
17. PALS within 6 months of hire
18. Handle with Care Certification within 6 months
19. Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Experience
20. Six (6) months of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a direct patient care setting unless entering into the Nurse Residency Program
