Fulham Correctional Centre Health Services are accredited with the Australasian Council on Healthcare Standards, providing high quality Primary Health Care to adult male prisoners.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified AOD (Medication Assisted Treatment of Opioid Dependence) Nurse.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in delivering the AOD Program and working closely with medical and nursing staff to assess patients and monitor their ongoing treatment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Monitoring policies and procedures to ensure appropriate risk measures are in place.
* Treating patients with problems within professional capabilities.
* Administering the AOD Program within best practice guidelines.
* Developing individual health management plans with patients as necessary.
* Applying knowledge of drugs and therapeutics in administering medication.
* Acting as a liaison with pharmacy supplier to ensure timely supply of medications.
* Participating in health promotion and educational programs for both staff and prisoners.
* Overseeing Enrolled Nurses supporting the program.
To be successful you will possess:
* Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse.
* Experience and understanding of opiate treatment programs.
* Alcohol and drug counselling experience and/or post-graduate qualifications.
* Interest in health promotion and education.
* Ability to work without direct supervision in performing nursing diagnosis and providing follow-through treatment.
Importantly, we are looking for someone who is proactive, able to work as part of a broader Health Team and has strong communication skills.
