The Role
We're searching for a highly capable and experienced English teacher to join our Humanities team.
The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching engaging and relevant English programs to a range of students, students in Years 7 to 12. Experience or a solid desire to teach ATAR English and/or General Senior School English, Gifted and Talented and remedial literacy programs, and working with English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD) students will be very well received. As Tom Price SHS is a small school, all staff are expected to be able to teach in a second or third area. Applicants who can teach Mathematics, Performing Arts, Psychology, and or have a Cert IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent will be highly regarded.
Our curriculum is designed to be highly relevant and is shaped by student interests, ensuring both high engagement and outstanding outcomes. The ideal applicant would add value to the highly developed English Programs, delivered to our students in Years 7 to 12. Through our curriculum, you will ideally ensure students understand how Standard Australian English works in its spoken and written forms, and in combination with non-linguistic forms of communication to create meaning. Through your quality teaching our students will appreciate, enjoy, analyse, evaluate, adapt and use the richness and power of the English language in all its variations to evoke feelings, form ideas and facilitate interaction with others.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
