About the Role:
The position of Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic is mainly responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing airconditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment for a range of industrial, commercial, and domestic clients.
The main tasks and duties of the role involve, but are not limited to, the following:
· Install, assemble, and commission commercial and industrial air conditioning, refrigeration, and mechanical ventilation systems in accordance with project specifications, engineering plans, and Australian Standards.
· Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration faults, including compressors, motors, fans, ductwork, control panels, thermostats, and associated mechanical components.
· Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance across a range of commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment to ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and longevity.
· Test, adjust, and balance (TAB) air conditioning and ventilation systems to verify correct operation and system performance.
· Install and connect refrigeration piping systems, including brazing, soldering, leak testing, pressure testing, and evacuation in line with industry standards and safety requirements.
· Charge, recover, and handle refrigerants safely and responsibly, ensuring compliance with ARCtick licensing requirements and environmental regulations.
· Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, load calculations, and job documentation for accurate installation and troubleshooting.
· Inspect and test the performance of installed air conditioning and refrigeration systems, completing operational checks and documenting results.
· Provide responsive breakdown support, attending emergency call-outs and resolving equipment failures promptly to support clients’ operational continuity.
· Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and installation teams to deliver end-to-end project outcomes from design through to commissioning.
· Identify and recommend system upgrades or improvements, including energy-efficient solutions tailored to withstand Australian climatic conditions.
· Maintain accurate service records, compliance documentation, and maintenance reports, including asset registers and safety logs.
· Provide professional customer service, communicating clearly with clients, explaining issues and proposed solutions, and ensuring a positive service experience consistent with PremiAir’s standards.
Qualifications and Experience
· Certificate III in Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration, or equivalent qualification.
· 1 year of experience working in a similar position.
