The Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault (CASA) is dedicated to reducing the incidence and impact of sexual assault. Our strategy includes community development, education methods, therapeutic services, and crisis responses. Gippsland CASA provides services within the Gippsland region of Victoria to children and adults who have experienced sexual assault and to children and young people displaying sexually harmful behavior. The organization also supports non-offending family members and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Intake Counsellor, located in Morwell, VIC. The Intake Counsellor will be responsible for assessing clients' needs, providing crisis counseling, and offering immediate support. This role includes developing and implementing case management plans, conducting risk assessments, and collaborating with other professionals to ensure holistic care for clients. Applicants will also provide community education and training as needed.
Qualifications
* Experience in counseling, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care
* Skills in client needs assessment, case management, and risk assessment
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively
* Knowledge of community development and education methods
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
* Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field
* Registration or eligibility for registration with relevant professional bodies is a plus
* Knowledge of the Gippsland region and local resources is an advantage
