Full time, Fixed Term Contract Until December 2026 Supportive, collaborative team with a hybrid working environment based at Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde About the Role We are hiring for a Technical and Application Specialist (Health IT Technologies), where your primary responsibility is to leverage your deep technical expertise in healthcare IT systems and underlying technologies to address complex challenges and drive digital transformation within one of Australia’s leading academic institutions. The Technical and Application Specialist will also play a key role in the delivery of Health IT projects through all its phases including contributions to solution design, implementation, testing and deployment. Key responsibilities: Act as the SME for specific health IT technologies including EHR systems, integration platforms, BI and data analytics, cybersecurity and other point of care solutions. Provide technical guidance, expertise and leadership to project teams, IT and clinical stakeholders on requirements for successful implementation, configuration, optimisation and adoption of health IT technology. Lead Solution Design approval processes by presenting and contributing to governance processes including Design Authority and CAB approval. Troubleshoot technical issues with sharp analytical skills and creative problem solving. Provide a point of escalation and specialist advice for technical issues and incidents involving health IT systems. Enforce corporate IT standards and processes by creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation and knowledge base. Assess the impact of, and plan for change across health IT applications in collaboration with service management teams, integration specialists, clinical application specialists, architecture and end-user computing to ensure effective delivery. Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, emerging technologies and opportunities to innovate relevant to the hospital's IT environment. About You Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical role preferably in the healthcare IT industry. Demonstrated experience in more than one IT healthcare technologies (e.g., EHRs, EMR, POC devices, integration platforms, data analytics, cybersecurity). A problem-solver with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Comply with relevant EEO and WHS regulations.
