Our client, a federal government department, is seeking talented professionals to join their Corporate Communications team as APS 5 and APS 6 Public Affairs Officers. These roles offer the opportunity to make a difference by managing internal and corporate communication activities, ensuring a shared understanding of the organisation's purpose, objectives, and strategic priorities.
These roles are Canberra based and will be offered in an initial 6 month non-ongoing or temporary S26 transfer capacity.
About the Roles
APS 6 Public Affairs Officer
As a Senior Communications Officer, you'll work with mínimal direction to:
Provide strategic advice on communication issues.
Lead internal and external communication projects.
Develop and implement promotion plans, monitoring and evaluating outcomes.
Advise stakeholders on communication strategies.
Brief graphic designers, video producers, web designers, and editors.
Write and edit a range of communication materials.
Build and maintain solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
APS 5 Public Affairs Officer
In this role, you will support the team with:
Assisting in the implementation of promotion plans.
Writing a variety of communication materials.
Managing communication channels, including intranet content.
Liaising with internal clients.
Undertaking administrative tasks, including records management.
What We're Looking For
A degree/diploma in communications, journalism, or public affairs (or relevant experience).
Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
The ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
Australian citizenship is required.
Additional Requirements:
APS 6: Leadership skills and the ability to independently manage complex communication strategies.
APS 5: Experience in, or willingness to learn, SharePoint publishing and strong organisational skills.
