Overview

Lead Teacher – Teaching and Learning role at Berry Street School. The Lead Teacher is a senior member of the schoolwide team and leads curriculum and professional learning across all campuses.

The Berry Street School is a specialist independent secondary school with campuses in Ballarat, Morwell, Narre Warren, and Shepparton. We work with students who have experienced complex trauma and are at risk of disengaging from education.

We Offer

* Years 7–10: Adapted Victorian Curriculum
* Years 11–12: VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) and Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC)

Our approach includes the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM), flexible and individualised learning plans, small class sizes, therapeutic support, and strong family and community engagement.


The Role

The Lead Teacher – Teaching and Learning is a senior member of our schoolwide team and plays a critical role in leading curriculum and professional learning across all campuses.

* $125K (pro rata) + Super + Salary Packaging
* Full-time, Fixed Term (12-month contract for the 2026 school year)
* Hybrid role with regular travel across all Berry Street School campuses (Ballarat, Morwell, Narre Warren, Shepparton)


Key Responsibilities

* Lead curriculum planning, assessment and reporting for Years 7–10 across the school
* Guide the implementation of the Schoolwide Curriculum Framework
* Lead schoolwide strategies in literacy and numeracy data collection and analysis
* Coordinate key academic programs including NAPLAN, MacqLit and Maths Mastery
* Drive instructional coaching, professional development and staff mentoring
* Support the delivery of the Annual Implementation Plan and Strategic Plan priorities
* Support the development and inclusion of diversity and wellbeing initiatives, including LGBTQIA+ and RAP working groups
* Model high-quality teaching through demonstration lessons and team collaboration
* Teach when required

The role is hybrid and requires regular travel between all four campuses. It reports to the Assistant Principal – Teaching and Learning.


Essential

About You

* A Bachelor's Degree in Education
* Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration
* Demonstrated experience in curriculum leadership and data-informed teaching
* Capacity to lead teaching and learning improvement initiatives across multiple teams
* High-level skills in digital technologies (Microsoft Suite, Canva, education platforms)
* Strong interpersonal, coaching and mentoring abilities
* Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple sites


Desirable

* Master's Degree in Instructional Leadership
* Experience as an Instructional Coach, including programs such as Step Lab
