A well-established and growing civil contracting business is seeking a Commercial Manager to join its senior leadership team. With annual revenues of approximately $250m, the company has built a strong reputation delivering urban development infrastructure across Queensland, partnering with leading developers on large-scale master planned communities.
This newly created role reports directly to the General Manager and offers the opportunity to shape and strengthen the company's commercial and procurement framework as the business continues to scale.
The Role
The Commercial Manager will take ownership of the organisation's procurement strategy, supplier relationships, and commercial optimisation, working closely with project teams and pre-contracts to ensure strong commercial outcomes across a diverse portfolio of civil projects.
Key responsibilities include:
* Streamline and standardise procurement processes across multiple projects and business units
* Negotiate and manage supplier and subcontractor agreements, building long-term strategic partnerships
* Analyse spend data across projects to identify trends, opportunities for cost optimisation, and procurement efficiencies
* Work closely with the Precontracts team to refine cost structures and improve procurement outcomes at tender stage
* Support project teams with commercial strategy and supply chain engagement
* Drive improved commercial governance, reporting, and cost visibility across the business
About You
This opportunity will suit an experienced Commercial Manager within the construction contracting sector, or a Senior Project Manager / Project Manager with a strong commercial and procurement focus looking to step into a broader strategic role.
You will bring:
* Demonstrated experience in civil construction contracting within Australia or New Zealand
* Strong commercial acumen, particularly around procurement, supply chain management, and cost analysis
* Experience negotiating and managing supplier and subcontractor agreements
* A background delivering or supporting civil infrastructure for urban development projects
* The ability to work collaboratively with operational and precontracts teams to drive better commercial outcomes
