Duties/Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations
* Oversee daily lab operations, resource allocation, and instrument performance
* Monitor workflow and reassign tasks to meet turnaround times
* Ensure equipment calibration and maintenance are completed on schedule
* Adapt to changing priorities and perform additional duties as needed e.g. laboratory benchwork
People & Culture
* Lead team management processes
* Conduct regular check‐ins and performance reviews
* Create and maintain development plans for all team members
* Mentor and coach staff
* Maintain staffing levels and support a positive team culture
Client Management & Business Development
* Build and maintain strong client relationships
* Act as first contact for clients
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities
* Provide client visit reports and maintain client insights
Quality Assurance & Compliance
* Ensure compliance with NATA, ISO, and internal QMS requirements
* Support method improvements and audit readiness
* Identify and implement process improvements
* Encourage team ideas for workflow optimisation
* Support evaluation and validation of new methods and technologies
Skills/Experience
* Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or similar discipline
* Must have prior experience in a NATA accreditated laboratory environment and a strong technical background
* Experience in an environmental laboratory is highly ideal
* Strong communication skills and attention to detail
* Teamwork skills and ability to mentor junior staff
