AsCommercial Manager, you will oversee all commercial, contractual, and financial management activities for a major civils and infrastructure package within a complex and highly regulated setting.
You will ensure that commercial processes, cost management systems, and contract controls are robust, compliant, and aligned with NEC procedures.
Working alongside project managers, planners, engineers, supply chain partners, and regulatory stakeholders, you will lead commercial governance, cost forecasting, compensation event management, subcontract administration, change control, reporting, and risk/commercial strategy.
You will play a critical role in ensuring commercial assurance, value protection, accurate financial reporting, and successful commercial outcomes across all phases of the project.
ThisCommercial Managerrole requires a commercially focused leader with strong NEC expertise and experience on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications
Proven experience as aCommercial Manageron large civil engineering or infrastructure projects
Strong competence with NEC3/NEC4 contract administration, especially ECC forms
Experience managing cost control, forecasting, CVRs, change management, and subcontract packages
Ability to lead commercial reviews, client reporting, and stakeholder interfacing
Strong understanding of risk management, early warnings, compensation events, and programme impacts
Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing skills
High level of commercial governance, accuracy, and attention to detail
Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC)
Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications
Experience with major remediation, decommissioning, or high-complexity civil engineering works
Chartered status (MRICS or working towards chartership)
Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or related discipline

As aSenior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for managing the financial performance of major civil engineering and infrastructure works.
You will oversee cost management, contract administration, change control, and commercial reporting to ensure projects are delivered on time, to budget, and in full compliance with contractual requirements.
You will work closely with project managers, engineering teams, planners, procurement, and the wider commercial department to ensure accurate forecasting, timely valuations, and robust contract management.
This role requires strong commercial acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to provide clear commercial leadership across multiple work packages.
You will be responsible for managing subcontractor accounts, preparing and reviewing payment applications, assessing variations, undertaking cost/value reconciliations, and ensuring that commercial risks are identified, monitored and controlled.
Strong communication, attention to detail, and an ability to operate within a fast-paced, highly regulated environment are essential.
This position suits an experienced commercial professional with a proven track record in large-scale civil engineering or infrastructure delivery.
Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of cost management, commercial reporting, procurement processes, and contract administration
Demonstrable experience operating within NEC contract environments
Ability to manage subcontractor accounts, negotiate terms, and conduct robust commercial evaluations
Strong IT skills, including competency with commercial software and MS Excel
Ability to manage deadlines, workloads and commercial priorities across multiple packages
Degree (BSc / MSc) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
Membership of RICS or working toward MRICS status

Experience supporting commercial strategy on multi-year, multi-disciplinary programmes
