The City of Wanneroo is looking for an experienced and strategic Coordinator Risk & Assurance to lead our Risk & Assurance function and help safeguard one of Western Australia's fastest-growing local governments.

Working within the Office of the CEO, this is a high-impact leadership role where you'll influence decision-making, strengthen governance and build a culture of risk-aware thinking across the organisation.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Corporate Governance & Council Services, you will:

• Lead and coordinate the City's Risk & Assurance function, including risk management, assurance and insurance

• Design and deliver a risk-based control assurance program that protects the integrity of the organisation

• Provide expert advice to senior leaders on governance, compliance and risk matters

• Develop and continuously improve policies, procedures and frameworks aligned with the City's strategic objectives

• Balance technical expertise with people leadership, developing a capable, engaged and high-performing team

• Collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including Council, executives and regulators

• Manage resources and budgets responsibly, ensuring strong governance and value for money

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys thinking strategically, leading change and embedding best-practice risk management into everyday operations.

About You

You're a confident leader and trusted advisor who brings:

• A Certified Practicing Risk Manager (CPRM) qualification or equivalent (RMIA eligible)

• Significant experience in risk and assurance within a large, complex organisation

• Demonstrated experience in local government (highly regarded)

• Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills

• Advanced analytical, communication and problem-solving capabilities

• A proactive mindset and the ability to lead through change
