The role
The General Surgical Fellow will be a valued member of the Surgical & Perioperative Division to undertake supervised high‐level general surgical care services within their approved scope of clinical practice as part of the General Surgery team at Albury Wodonga Health.
As part of a 12‐month fellowship you will manage all elective, acute & trauma components of General Surgery, provide assessment and treatment to patients, and hold direct responsibility for Emergency Department surgical patients. You will work within a multidisciplinary team and supervise and develop junior medical staff ranging from interns to accredited surgical trainees.
Qualifications
- Registered Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a recognised Fellowship that permits specialist level registration.
- Successful completion of the General Surgical Fellowship examination and the required training time in the General Surgical SET program (exceptions may be made if you plan to sit the Fellowship within six months).
- Eligibility for Fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is desirable.
- Ability to work effectively with medical and other health service colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with patients, their families, medical and non‐medical colleagues.
