The role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Grounds Team Leader to oversee the maintenance and presentation of our school campus.
This role is part of the broader Facilities Team and leads the Grounds team to ensure a high level of grounds maintenance and presentation across both school's grounds. The role will:
* Lead and motivate a small team of grounds staff
* Coordinate day-to-day grounds maintenance, landscaping, and gardening
* Ensure all outdoor areas are safe, tidy, and ready for school activities
* Assist with planning and executing improvement projects
* Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment
* Liaise with contractors and suppliers when required
* Support the broader Facilities Team with general maintenance as required
The ideal candidate
This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced and qualified horticulturist or gardening team leader. You will be able to demonstrate:
* A strong knowledge and experience in overall garden management and garden design, including common landscaping plants used in Brisbane, soils and plant, nutrition, pests and disease and irrigation systems.
* Strong operational leadership, with a willingness to work alongside the grounds team in delivering day-to-day maintenance and improvement projects.
* Proven experience and ability to lead and develop a small team.
* Qualifications in Horticulture, Parks and Gardens, Turf Management or similar will be highly regarded.
* A strong working knowledge of work, health and safety practices as they relate to grounds maintenance.
* A high level of attention to detail in both the day-to-day gardening maintenance and longer-term landscaping projects.
* Excellent time management skills to ensure all deadlines are met.
* A high level of energy and physical capability to perform the required tasks in an outdoor environment.
* A positive attitude, high level of flexibility and well-developed interpersonal skills.

This is a full-time role across the full year. Some flexibility with hours may be available and participation in a rotational Saturday roster and/or on call responsibilities will be required.
