About the role
Reporting to the CFO this role is responsible for leading the financial operational activities and statutory requirements across HSK Ward Group and its subsidiaries. Responsibilities include all aspects of financial management, integrity of the General ledger, assist with optimisation of cash flow, and business management compliance for auditing and tax.
The position will ensure that all internal and external accountabilities are met in a timely manner and of a high standard.
Key responsibilities:
* Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team, including coaching and mentoring and planning development activities.
* Foster a culture of motivated and performance-oriented finance employees, leading change and improvement activities to create efficiencies and in line with business requirements.
* Set and monitor quality standards for the team, ensuring performance is in line with expectations.
* Supervise all transaction-processing operations to ensure regulatory and legislative requirements are met.
* Manage all finance operations including A/R, A/P, Treasury & GL.
* Assist with the review of debtor balance and bring accounts back to terms where required.
* Ensure quality control, accuracy and timeliness over financial transactions and financial reporting.
* Assist with financial activities including (but not limited to) audits, taxation, statutory reporting, cash flow, expense control.
* In collaboration with the CFO, maintain an adequate system and controls created to mitigate risk.
* Oversee the month end and year-end financial and management reporting process to ensure the accuracy of the organisation's financial results and reports in a timely manner.
* Account for any variances and report significant discrepancies to management.
* Ensure that financial reports comply with current accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
* Ensure compliance to statutory law, finance, and tax regulations.
* Manage and comply with local, state, and government reporting requirements and tax filings.
* Oversee & assist with completion of statutory returns, BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax and Super.
* Ability to work to strict deadlines and deliver outcomes within a timely manner.
* Development of financial reports, down to sales channels along with insightful commentary.
* Complete Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
About you
The ideal candidate will have been working within FMCG, Manufacturing/Wholesale or Retail environments for a minimum of 5 years.
More specifically, the ideal candidate will have:
* Tertiary qualifications in accounting or business-related (Essential).
* CPA / CA professional qualification (Essential).
* Demonstrated hands-on experience in financial/management accounting within a dynamic, agile, and fast-paced entrepreneurial business environment.
* Demonstrated understanding of fundamental accounting principles including interpretation and application of Australian Accounting Standards.
* Knowledge of BC365 / similar systems.
* Demonstrated capability in leading, developing, and growing finance teams/functions.
* Lead a small team to deliver outcomes and provide a high standard of service to its customers.
* Demonstrated ability to work as a cross-functional team player.
* Ability to form strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including banks, auditors, regulatory authorities, and shareholders.
* Strong ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure, in a fast-changing environment.
* Strong ability to identify issues and opportunities and propose solutions.
* Strong attention to detail, skills and team orientation capabilities.
