**About the role**:
Reporting to the Head of Independent Retail and Emerging Markets, the key purpose of this role is achieving sales and field execution targets across the National Independent Retail Channel through effective sales planning & execution, customer relationship management and leadership of a dedicated field, operations support and outbound sales teams.

It will be key that you build capability of the sales teams and team leaders, inspire high performance through effective leadership, coaching and development. Maximising asset management and coverage planning to return growth and distribution gains for the Independents channel and marketplace.

**Responsibilities**:

- Connect and establish relationships, maintain strong rapport and business partnerships across key customer stakeholders including State Metcash Operations, State/National Key Independent accounts, and Emerging channels.
- Manage SG&A costs to budget - account and field.
- Lead, coach, develop, and manage a dedicated team of State Sales Managers.
- Optimising brand and range presence across Points of Purchase by achieving Distribution, Share of Shelf, Planograms and Trade Standards.
- Territory planning of Field team to ensure optimal call cycles and routing in place to achieve maximum call coverage and timely execution against objectives set.
- Identify customer growth and sales opportunities and build tactics that compliment national strategies and promotions.

**About you**:

- Degree qualification in Business/Commerce/Marketing or commensurate experience
- Extensive sales experience within FMCG or similar industry with demonstrated ability to be held accountable for sales and execution targets that requires extensive customer engagement.
- Ability to identify key insights through data analysis and set goals linked to performance measures.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in team engagement, cultural change and process improvement.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to support the team when system issues arise.
- Meeting internal and external expectations and maintaining trusting relationships across key stakeholders.
- Stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
