The role will ensure strict adherence to safety, quality standards, and schedule requirements while managing subcontractors, site resources, and project execution.This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise across mechanical and civil construction, and the ability to manage day-to-day site operations efficiently.Contract SummaryRate: Based on experienceContract Length: 5 January **** – Mid April ****Work Model: On-siteLocation: WollongongResponsibilitiesEnforce site safety standards and ensure compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements.Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.Monitor adherence to permit-to-work systems (BOS Work Owner, hot work, confined space, lifting operations).
Ensure compliance with environmental and quality standards.Review and implement construction schedules aligned with project milestones.Coordinate mechanical and civil teams to prevent clashes and delays.Liaise with engineers, QA/QC inspectors, and subcontractors.Ensure timely availability of materials, tools, and equipment.Oversee mechanical works including piping, compressors, valves, vessels, and nitrogen system components.Supervise civil works including excavation, concrete pouring, foundations, and structural steel erection.Monitor progress and quality against drawings and specifications.Verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards.Ensure documentation of inspections and tests (NDT, welding qualifications, hydrostatic tests, concrete slump tests).
Report and manage non-conformances promptly.Manage workforce allocation and productivity.Coordinate subcontractor activities and resolve site-level conflicts.Arrange and oversee mobile equipment including cranes and EWP units.Maintain daily site logs including progress, manpower, and safety incidents.Report construction progress to the Engineering Coordinator or Project Manager.Document and manage changes or deviations (variations, CWC).
Identify potential site hazards and implement mitigation measures.Respond effectively to emergencies and incidents.Skills & ExperienceDiploma or Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial construction projects.Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, piping, and civil construction methods.Experience with nitrogen or oxygen systems (preferred but not essential).
