The Role
You will have the opportunity to use both your science and technology expertise and your project management knowledge to lead some of the most interesting Programs supporting the Defence of Australia. As Deputy Program Leader (DPL) Air Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) and Electronic Warfare (EW), you will be responsible to the Program Leader Air Capabilities and will work collaboratively with AFHQ, CASG, and RAAF force element groups to develop a program of work providing support to RAAF EW programs including AIR555 MC-55A Peregrine and Air Countermeasures Development and Validation.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Contributing to the development of an IS&T; Program Strategy
- Creating the IS&T; Program’s delivery plans through consultation with relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Applying your science and technology expertise to contribute to the design of research activities that address priority problems of strategic importance to Defence, which may span several scientific disciplines/domains
- Working across teams to define the Program’s milestones, resources, risks and work packages, and leverage and integrate with associated projects
- Working across Program boundaries with Program Leader Electromagnetic Warfare to deliver broader EW initiatives within the organisation
- Monitoring, and reporting on the Program’s delivery, risks, governance, communications, budget and benefits realised
- Identifying and resolving issues as they arise to ensure quality IS&T; outcomes are achieved to time and budget
- Acquiring support for successful delivery of Program projects and work-packages (this includes: governance, assurance, legal, security, ICT, and safety)
- Identifying and negotiating suitable technology transition pathways to help drive innovation
- Maintaining and fostering partnerships with clients, academia, and other organisations nationally and internationally

The DSTG Air Capabilities IS&T; Program seeks to shape and influence air domain capability enablers through the delivery of scientific research, technology development, and expert advice for the Air ISR, Air Mobility, and Combat Air Support capability programs, as well as support to countermeasures development and validation for air platforms, and enabling IS&T; in support of the force-in-being.
The majority of the Air Capabilities IS&T; effort is in support of the RAAF Air ISR Program, including P-8A Poseidon, MC-4C Triton, and MC-55A Peregrine.

The S&T7;/EL2 Science Advisor position will require:
• academic qualifications in one or more of the following related fields of research; or
