The Opportunity
Our client, a highly regarded civil construction company, is seeking an experienced Group WHS Compliance Manager to lead and elevate their health, safety, environmental, and quality systems.
You will oversee WHS systems, compliance frameworks, and integrated management systems, making a lasting impact across the business.
In this key leadership role, you’ll manage ISO certifications (45001, 14001, 9001), drive compliance and prequalification processes, and oversee WHS across construction, fleet, and workshop operations.
You’ll also lead a high-performing team, support sustainability initiatives, and champion the organisation’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead WHS and compliance operations across construction sites, workshops, and fleet activities.
2. Manage and continuously improve the Integrated Management System aligned with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001.
3. Oversee the business’s compliance, safety, and reporting platform.
4. Conduct and lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, audits, and contractor reviews.
5. Ensure audit readiness and maintenance of all ISO certifications.
6. Lead prequalification and accreditation processes for OFSC, TMR, NHVR, NHVAS and major clients.
7. Mentor and manage a team of WHSE Advisors, Compliance Administrators, and Environmental & Sustainability Officers.
8. Deliver toolbox talks, training sessions, WHS meetings, and reporting.
9. Drive implementation of the RAP and support First Nations engagement.
10. Champion environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives including erosion and sediment control (ESC), waste management, and resource efficiency.
About You
1. Diploma or Degree in WHS or a related field (highly regarded).
2. Lead Auditor qualifications in ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001.
3. Experience in WHS and compliance management within civil construction would be an advantage — but if you come from another sector and bring strong systems knowledge and leadership skills, you are more than welcome to apply.

5. ICAM or equivalent certification in incident investigation.
6. Knowledge of industry frameworks (OFSC, TMR, NHVR, NHVAS) and client prequalification requirements.
