Role
The Leading Teacher is an instructional leader who is a highly skilled classroom practitioner and is known for improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students. This Leading Teacher demonstrates particular strength in developing effective learning programs for students, through effective use of the College's work force. The leading teacher will actively contribute to a School Improvement Team (SIT) to deliver effective planning, implementation and evaluation of:
1. Effective implementation of staff operations, this will include but is not limited to VIT Portfolio, Graduate Teachers, ITE’s, Policy development and Pre-service Teachers.
2. Development and promotion of practices that can be used in a P-12 school context to establish effective staff induction process.
3. Building teacher capacity as it relates to effective teaching practices through communication, coaching, co- planning and lesson observation (which includes the protocols for observation, feedback and peer collaboration).
Responsibilities
The Leading Teacher - Staff Operations will:
4. Demonstrate high level expertise in teaching and assessment, through having an open classroom and undertaking lesson observation.
5. Work with the Principal, Assistant Principal to develop and implement timelines which support the College's work force plan; and implement staff induction process.
6. To actively build capacity in graduate teachers and new staff in learning relevant processes and embedding of the phoenix instructional model.
7. Work with the PLC planning team (as required) to ensure the effective implementation of PLC cycles at the College.
8. Assist with effective implementation of the PDP process.
9. Work with the College’s leadership team to build collaborative practices, through effective implementation of Phoenix protocols (which build collective efficacy).
10. Work with other learning specialists and leading teachers to establish a Community of Practice (COP) which focuses on building collective leaders and teacher efficacy.
11. Work as an active member of the Culture SIT team and in collaboration with appropriate other assistant principals, learning specialists and leading teachers.
12. Identify improvement opportunities and undertake other tasks as delegated by the Principal.

15. Staff induction processes and policies, as measure by completion of staff induction workbook and appropriate LearnEd modules.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

VIT LANTITE
To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching. In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016, must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements. This condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian Initial Teacher Education program completed by the person.

Phoenix P-12 Community College is a large coeducational school, located in Sebastopol, which is a suburb of Ballarat. We service a wide geographical area including the suburbs of Delacombe, Redan and Sebastopol and rural townships within the Golden Plains.
