This role is ideally suited to an existing CEO/DON of a private hospital seeking a new challenge, or a DON/DCS who is seeking the next step up to general management in their career. This role requires your proven team leadership and key stakeholder relationship management skills to support the needs of the hospital's medical specialists (VMOs) and the local public and allied health services in the region.
The hospital currently has 50+ beds and 3 operating theatres, 4 high dependency beds, a 4 bed children's ward and a day procedures suite. However, renovation and extension plans are being finalised. The opportunity could therefore also suit a candidate seeking a 2–3-year hospital turnaround venture.
Leveraging your well-developed leadership skills to create sustainable business outcomes, while maintaining the highest level of patient care and safety standards would be your core focus together with ensuring efficient and cost-effective hospital operations.
We are seeking an experienced private hospital leader to manage the clinical services and overall business operations of the hospital, hence the need for strong commercial acumen as well as strong clinical experience. Another key focus would be strengthening staff and doctor/specialist surgeon relationships, leading the hospital workforce to maximise efficiency, enhancing clinical outcomes, and expanding services in key areas.
Key Responsibilities:
* Developing and implementing strategic plans that align with national head office to ensure the ongoing expansion of services and to optimise hospital occupancy
* Ensuring clinical governance, accreditation standards, and all relevant legislation are met
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including staff, healthcare professionals, and external partners
* Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development across the hospital
* Full P&L by managing finances, budgeting, forecasting with support from Head Office Finance team.
About You:
We are seeking motivated candidates with proven hospital and clinical leadership experience who are seeking their next career move. This is also an excellent opportunity for a candidate with experience as a Director of Clinical Services or Director of Nursing who feels ready to step up into a hospital executive leadership role, with complete oversight of all hospital operations, services, and positive outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Must be a registered nurse
* Proven experience building and maintaining strong relationships with Visiting Medical Officers and allied health professionals
* Experience in successful business, clinical, and nursing management in a hospital/larger day surgery setting
* Relevant knowledge of hospital administration, clinical governance, and accreditation processes
* A proven history of providing clinical and patient service excellence
* Relevant financial acumen
* Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with high EQ
* Postgraduate qualifications in business, finance, or health services management.
