Your New Role
In this role you will be reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations Advisory. As the Operational Risk Manager you will be a key member of the Operational Risk team within Group Risk (Line 2) and interface with colleagues across the Fund.
A key responsibility of the role is providing Line 2 advice, oversight, and challenge on risk management practices across AustralianSuper's operational risk environment including working closely with Line 1 risk colleagues to assist them to identify, assess and manage risks, with a particular focus on third party and critical operations risks, within the context of the AustralianSuper Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Statement.
Key Duties
Act as a trusted advisor and business partner on operational risk matters, in particular risks related to third party management and critical operations. Providing strategic, well thought out advice to ensure that Line 1 effectively manages operational risk, and in doing so, achieves measurable business and member outcomes.
Analysis of risk data, extracting insights and reporting to support the oversight, advice and challenge the Fund in its effective management of operational risk, obligations, controls, incidents, third parties, etc.
Provide analysis, insights and reporting with respect to the Fund's operational risk profile, based on a thorough technical understanding of risk management, together with knowledge of the business.
Provide independent, specialist Line 2 support through oversight and challenge of Line 1 operational risk management activities, including reviewing operational risk assessments and adherence with CPS 230 Operational Risk Management.
Oversight and monitoring of the Line 1 operational risk control testing program.
Undertake Line 2 independent controls monitoring and controls testing (design and operational effectiveness).
Collaborate with key stakeholders and Group Risk colleagues to deliver accurate and insightful operational risk reporting where required which includes risk, control, incident, obligation management, and action plan data.
What You'll Need
8-10 years' experience preferably gained in a Financial Services organisations or professional services firms.
Excellent understanding of operational risk and controls management practices including an understanding of relevant regulatory standards (APRA).
Experience in the completion of risk management activities including risk identification, risk assessments and control assessment activities and/or Internal Auditing experience.
Experience in the development and delivery of Line 2 risk management activities.
Strong communication skills and ability to engage and influence with a range of stakeholders.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills that reflect a professional, collegiate and engaging approach.
Continuous improvement mindset.
Hold an accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body like Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or Governance Institute of Australia (GIA), or be willing to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper.
Demonstrated ability to understand and translate external regulatory requirements to shape business outcomes.
