Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital
We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join our multi-disciplinary team, providing expert social work services to clients and patients in our maternity unit. This fixed-term, part-time position involves working 60.8 hours per fortnight as parental leave (Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri).
The successful candidate will work independently, demonstrating advanced knowledge and have a minimum of 3 years extensive experience in social work. You will play a key role in teaching, training, research, and quality improvement activities, while also supervising and mentoring students and junior staff.
The Position
Provide evidence based senior Social Work services to patients/carers within the clinical specialty area of Maternity
* Provide Social Work assessment, intervention and evaluation at an advanced practice level for complex and general caseload/s.
* Ensures prioritisation and delegation of duties for own caseload and supervised staff.
* Contributes to the evaluation of the Social Work Service and Clinical Specialty, to ensure continuous improvement.
* Ensures effective multidisciplinary team work through professional communication and comprehensive liaison with colleagues, patient/carers and service providers.
* Ensures maintenance of appropriate clinical documentation and clinical information systems.
* Demonstrates reflective practice and commitment to professional development.
* Maintain a working knowledge of Child protection and Family and Domestic Violence
* Maintain current knowledge of legislation and policies relating to discharging patients
* Attends relevant training sessions offered by SJGHC. Satisfactory completion of all annual mandatory and unit based competencies as required.
Position Requirements
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care. They will hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work and be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers. Additionally, they will have proven senior clinical experience and leadership within a Maternity area of clinical practice in a healthcare setting.
The candidate will also possess the ability to provide professional supervision and mentorship to junior staff, fostering professional competence and growth. They will demonstrate a track record of developing evidence-based, innovative clinical practices and initiating quality improvement activities.

* Salary: $126,487 to $134,871 pro rata, plus 12% superannuation
