About the role
Make a meaningful impact in environmental and public health across the Darling Downs. As an Environmental Health Officer based in Toowoomba, you'll help protect community wellbeing through prevention, education and regulation, working closely with partners to create safer, healthier places to live, work and visit.
What your day could look like
You'll play a vital role in protecting and promoting community health across the Darling Downs. From preventing public health risks to guiding businesses and communities toward safer practices, your work will directly support healthier environments and better outcomes for people across the region. You'll collaborate with a supportive multidisciplinary team and build strong relationships with councils, industry and community stakeholders.
Daily responsibilities
* Safeguard public health through inspections, investigations and risk assessment activities that prevent harm before it occurs.
* Work alongside local partners to educate, advise and support compliance with environmental health standards.
* Respond to environmental and public health concerns with sound judgement, professionalism and compassion.
* Contribute practical ideas and evidence-informed solutions that strengthen regional health outcomes.
Qualifications & experience
* Eligibility for appointment as an Environmental Health Officer, including relevant qualifications and registration.
* Demonstrated experience applying environmental or public health principles in real-world settings.
* Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with diverse stakeholders.
