The Company:
Junior Einsteins is a family-owned and operated early learning organisation that prides themselves on their ongoing commitment to children’s learning and development. Junior Einsteins has been servicing the greater community of Shellharbour and its surrounding suburbs since 2007 and are passionate about providing children with the skills and confidence to reach their full potential. The Centre:
Junior Einsteins Nurturing Centre – Shell Heights is our newest service, focusing on creating an inclusive environment. This new state of the art centre is opened 52 weeks a year, catering for 125 children per day, aged 6 weeks – 6 years of age, from 6:30am – 6:30pm, Monday to Friday, closed on public holidays.
The Cafe:
The Junior Einsteins Cafe is open from 6:30AM to 4:00PM from Monday to Friday. The cafe is open to the general public and surrounding areas, as well as our lovely parents and families! We stock an array of delicious treats, drinks and meal options including:
* Delicious coffees
* Milkshakes
* Loaded energy teas
* Protein shakes
* Cakes, muffins and sweet treats
* Sandwiches, wraps, paninis and salads
* Pies, sausage rolls and savoury pastries and more!
We are searching for a highly organised, fast paced and bubbly individual to join our team as a barista and kitchen hand!
CAFE AND KITCHEN BASED ROLE
* Minimum of 27 hours per week, with 27 hours for Week A, and 30.5 hours for Week B
* WEEK A: Monday (Cafe) 2:30PM - 4:30PM, Tuesday (Cafe) 6AM - 4:30PM, Thursday and Friday (Kitchen) 8AM - 4PM
* WEEK B: Monday (Cafe) 2:30PM
o 4:30PM, Tuesday (Cafe) 6AM
o 4:30PM, Wednesday (Cafe) 6AM
o 9AM, Thursday (Kitchen) 8AM
o 4PM, Friday (Kitchen) 8AM
o 2:30PM (Cafe) 2:30PM
o 4:30PM
* Working independently in the cafe as the barista to make coffees and drinks, serving customers and heating up/ toasting food.
* 2 full days in the kitchen to assist our Centre Cook with the preparation of food, dishwashing hand and the cleanliness of the kitchens.
* Opportunities for additional hours to cover kitchen and cafe roles for leave on a casual basis
Barista and Kitchen Hand Requirements:
* 2 years of experience as a barista is essential.
* Ability to handle 6-8kg alone.
* Exceptional quality and speed in delivery.
* Understanding of coffee beans and specialty coffee.
* Customer focused, positive energy and bubbly personality.
* Passionate about coffee!
* Clean and efficient.
* Highly organised and able to work in both individual and team environment.
Tasks & Responsibilities
* Take care of the day to day coffee agenda to support the Head Cafe Manager.
* Provide high quality customer service.
* Utilise POS system.
* Ensure the quality and consistency of coffee is maintained.
* Ensure the rotation of cakes, pastries and hot food items.
* Maintain a clean, hygienic & organised workspace and environment.
* Assist the centre cook with food preparation in the daily of our nutritious and balance menu.
* Working alongside the centre cook to ensure food safety for children with anaphylaxis, allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements.
* Complete all dish washing and cleaning of equipment, utensils, bowls and plates after all mealtimes.
* Follow the service policies and procedures outlining hygiene standards and protocols to ensure effective and safe food handling and storage.
* Maintain a clean, sanitised and hygiene workspace.
* Ensure the daily cleaning of all kitchens within the service.
* Assist in laundry duties.
Essential Requirements:
* NSW Working with Children's Check (or willing to obtain)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organisation skills.
* An excellent understanding of the WH&S.
* An understanding of food anaphylaxis, allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements.
* Previous experience working in a hospitality setting, including barista training
Desirable Requirements:
* Certificate in Safe Food Handling
* Formal training for food anaphylaxis, allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements.
