OPERATIONAL OFFICER LEVEL 1

(NORTHERN TABLELANDS)

The Rural Fire Service (RFS) is the lead agency for bush fire management and mitigation in NSW. Fighting fires and protecting the community from emergencies is what we do!

The Operational Officer (OpO) Program is a RFS initiative to create and encourage a mobile and agile workforce across the state. The program is a unique opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of RFS activities in district and regional roles, as well as other specialised sections across the organisation. The role provides a broad range of services in a team environment that lead to better protection of the community from bush fires and other emergencies.

* Full time role & 35 hour working week
* RFS Level 4/5
* Attractive annual salary $85,804 - $93,949 p.a. plus 12% superannuation
* Location: Glen Innes, Northern Tablelands District (flexible working arrangements considered)

What you'll be doing:

The Northern Tablelands Team is seeking a proactive and forward-thinking Operational Officer Level 1 to join our team.

In this pivotal role, you will provide input to decision-making in projects and processes that may impact over 1100 volunteers.

Working closely with our Operational Officer Level 3 / District Coordinator, you will contribute to ensuring we prepare our members for the challenges they may face in the future. You will champion a safety-always culture across our District. and support operational decisions when required.

As part of our Team, you will promote our successes and play a central role in shaping our future direction.


Our ideal candidate:

We are seeking a team player who will contribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

You will support a number of functional areas including Infrastructure, Training, and Community Engagement, with your key responsibilities firmly around timely service delivery and positive member interactions.
Success in this role requires building and maintaining meaningful relationships with all members without prejudice, along with a strong understanding of volunteer-based service delivery and the unique challenges and opportunities it brings.

To be considered for these opportunities, you will need to provide evidence of:

* RFS Advanced Firefighter (AF) qualification or equivalent
* Certificate III in a relevant discipline or equivalent expertise
* A current Driver Licence and the willingness and ability to travel
* Completion of an Operational Officer Medical Assessment certifying the required level of general health and fitness (external candidates)

Please note: Those with equivalent qualifications are encouraged to apply, the RFS will review and determine eligibility on a case-by-case basis.

You may be required to undertake further professional development depending on your existing qualifications and experience in accordance with the essential requirements of the role.
