Mental Health Support Worker
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Mental Health Support Worker. In this rewarding role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of consumers who require support with their mental health.
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work collaboratively with consumers, families, carers, and clinicians to provide non-clinical support, advocacy, education, and group work aimed at facilitating recovery principles of hope, choice, self-determination, and social connectedness.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent social skills, good communication skills, resilience, and the ability to self-reflect and manage your own emotions. Having lived experience is one essential prerequisite for this position, as it enables you to understand the complexities of mental health and provide empathetic support to consumers.
In addition to these skills, we encourage applicants to have completed or be willing to complete a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work. This qualification will enhance your knowledge and skills in peer work practices and enable you to make a more significant contribution to the mental health sector.
Working with us, you will receive strong support from our local Maitland MHIPU team and benefit from our extensive peer work network, ensuring comprehensive guidance and collaboration throughout your journey. You will also enjoy competitive remuneration, including salary packaging options, superannuation contributions, and access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for staff and family members.
