Allygroup is seeking an experienced Lawyer (5 years PAE minimum), with strong hands on litigation experience, to join the Litigation team of a key federal government agency. In this role, you will be an integral part of the Litigation team in the department's Legal Division, assisting in ensuring the team effectively manage their caseload.This role is a secondment opportunity, for an initial 3 to 6-month term with the possibility of further extension. Successful candidates must be located in Canberra and must hold a Baseline security clearance. Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Managing a range of matters from judicial review matters, through to class actions and AAT matters Managing all steps in the litigation process, such as reviewing submissions, arranging witness affidavits, and assisting with discovery. Ensuring the department continues to meet obligations under the LSDs. Working with external law firms and across the Commonwealth on litigation matters. Managing subpoenas on behalf of the department. Allygroup is seeking multiple experienced Senior Commercial Lawyers to join the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) on a two-year contract (12-month initial term, with two 6-month extension options). This opportunity is a secondment position for an initial 6 month contract, with the possibility of extension. The department are looking for candidates who can start immediately and hit the ground running. Additionally, the role will require flexability and agility as the workload is varied and you may be required to provide ad-hoc support to other executives. This role is typically fast-paced with rigid timelines and work may be required outside normal work hours to meet peak work demands. Discretion, tact and diplomacy are required in dealing with sensitive and/or confidential matters. Candidates must be an Australian citizen, Melbourne-based, have a minimum of a baseline security clearance, and be available on a full-time basis.
