Associate Lecturer in Construction Management

Overview

Join the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW as an Associate Lecturer in a Teaching and Research role. This position covers the responsibilities of an academic staff member who has been seconded to another role for the duration of that appointment. The role focuses on high-quality teaching and research in construction management, with emphasis on digital technologies, data sciences, and IoT – including BIM, smart infrastructure, and data-driven decision-support. You will contribute to leadership in construction management, driving innovation in sustainable infrastructure, digital construction technologies, and integrated project delivery methods.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career academic looking to lay the foundations for a career in academia. The Associate Lecturer reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports.

Responsibilities

* Undertake high-quality teaching and research in construction management with emphasis on digital technologies, data sciences, and IoT.
* Contribute to teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
* Engage students and foster independent learning through meaningful assessment and constructive feedback.
* Collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships within a team environment.
* Undertake professional development of teaching practice where appropriate.
* Support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives and contribute to a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
* Undertake high quality academic research with limited supervision and communicate findings through publications and presentations as appropriate.
* Adhere to UNSW policies and guidelines and maintain awareness of health and safety responsibilities.

Qualifications

* A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
* Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Experience in teaching and learning design, development and/or delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Knowledge of educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Experience engaging students and providing meaningful feedback.
* Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and contribute to equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
* Record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
* Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
* Strong interpersonal skills and alignment with UNSW's aims and values.
* Commitment to health and safety training and practices.

Contract & Compensation

* Level A, Salary - $113,911 to $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation
* Full-time
* Fixed-term contract – ASAP start until August 2028
* Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia
